Ralph Monti is President/CEO of Special Interest Media, Inc. His 35+-year experience in magazine publishing includes launching an international magazine as an entrepreneur, leading the successful turnaround of two consumer magazine companies, and consulting to the world's top magazine publishers. As an entrepreneur and corporate executive, he has successfully launched more than a dozen magazines in the B-to-B and consumer magazine category. Mr. Monti also has broad international magazine publishing experience, having published in Europe for many years and has licensed U.S.-based magazines in Europe, South America and Asia. He has created many successful multi-media platforms, brand extensions and ancillary businesses that included the web, audio, events, video, database marketing, custom publishing, software, books, soft goods, newsletters and many other products spun from print media.

His global client list includes consumer and b-to-b publishers such as Crain Communications, Primedia, Penton Media, Bauer Publishing, Edgell, Hanley-Wood, LLC., Hachette, Elsevier, Advanstar, The Arts and Entertainment Network, Editora Abril (Brazil), Transcontinental (Canada) and Buchan Publishing (United Kingdom). He also works with major associations who publish magazines. These include The American Kennel Club, The Healthcare Financial Management Association, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the National School Board Association. And he has a number of non-traditional publisher clients including IBM and ATT.

Mr. Monti is the author of four non-fiction books. His book, "Career Opportunities in Magazine Publishing: The Ultimate Guide to Succeeding in the Business", was awarded a 2000 Benjamin Franklin Award for excellence in career writing. His latest book, "The Creative Sales Person: How To Develop Your Creativity As An Effective Sales Tool" was published in 2003. He has written columns for Folio:Magazine, The Magazine for Magazine Management, that explore a variety of magazine management topics and Circulation Management Magazine which targets magazine circulation professionals, and is often asked to judge editorial and circulation award competitions.

Monti holds a publishing diploma from New York University and is a sought-after seminar speaker at The Folio:Shows, The Circulation Management Expo & Conference, The Magazine Publishers of America Professional Development Program, The American Business Media Top Management Conference, the Western Publications Association Conference, The City and Regional Magazine Association and many other magazine association conferences in the United States and abroad. He also custom designs private professional development, mentoring and executive coaching sessions on magazine management. He recently created and led a magazine launch session to a group of Chinese c-level magazine professionals at the University of Peking in Beijing, China.
